Amusement Park Powers EVs Using Electric Toothbrush Technology

Last year, we watched as Korea’s Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) developed a new kind of electric vehicle that relies entirely on power from cables buried beneath the road–no outside recharging required. Report Says LEDs in Short Supply

A new report from technology research corporation iSuppli warns that we’re facing a global LED shortage in 2010.  Hooray! Why am I cheering?  Because the reason for this shortage is a huge surge in demand for the energy-efficient lighting in the electronics industry.  Yes, it’s bad that the supply is low, but it’s great news that the use of more efficient lighting is becoming more mainstream.

One & Ortakoy: A Sustainable Mixed-Use Complex in Istanbul

Inhabitat reader e_meliss tells us that  Global Architectural Development (GAD) is on its way to constructing a mixed-use complex that will be a reflection of technology, sustainability and aesthetics in Istanbul. Dubbed the “One & Ortakoy,” this project is under construction in the neighborhood of Ortakoy .  The developers have planned two buildings – one which will be designated for residential purposes while the second will be reserved for commercial use.

China to Launch Multi-Billion Dollar Renewable Energy Program

Photograph: Bob Sacha/Corbis China recently announced that it is planning to reduce its carbon intensity by 40-45% (from 2005 levels) and generate 15% of its electricity from renewables by 2020. According to Zhang Guobao, head of the National Energy Administration, the country will be launching a multi-billion dollar program investing in wind , solar and nuclear power some time in the near future.
